Community Foster Program

Fostering Saves Lives!

By opening your home and heart to foster cats and kittens in need, you save more than just 1 cat. That’s the rescue effect.

Thank you for helping cats in need!

What is the Community Foster Program?

If you have found kittens and would like to care for them while they await adoption, our rescue will connect you with the resources to get your foster kittens ready for their forever home. This includes spay/neuter surgery, core vaccines, and treatments such as microchip, dewormer and flea prevention.

What is required of me?

You will care for your foster cats/kittens in your own home for, on average, 3 months. Your foster will also have an opportunity to stay in our PetSmart Adoption Center, located inside the Compton store location. We ask that you visit your foster on a daily basis and complete cat care duties.

That’s it?

Yes! Your job is to provide love and care for your foster kitten, and bring them to any required medical appointments. Fostering is one of the most rewarding roles in rescue. Without fosters, our rescue cannot help with every request. Thank you for being part of the movement!

Adoption Process

Submit an Application

An adoption application is our first chance to meet you and hear about your excitement at adopting one of our fosters as your own. The questions are designed to help us understand why you are looking to adopt, and how you plan to care for the needs of these rescued animals.

Once we receive your application, you will hear from us within 1-2 business days.

Home Check (Virtual)

We care deeply about each and every one of our fosters, and take every step to ensure that they are placed in safe, loving, indoor-only homes. Virtual home check calls conducted via video call allow us a chance to meet on-screen and see where the cat will be housed. Potential adopters will also hear from our team about why we take these steps to ensure each cat’s safety.

Please remember: there is no need to prepare in advance for these calls. We’re not calling to see if the house is spotless, or what your home decor looks like. We care more about the right fit for each of our cats.

Meet and Greet

Were you shopping at PetSmart Compton, happened to see our fabulous felines in the Adoption Center and just had to meet them? Great idea! Meeting our adoptable cats in person is the best way to see if both the cat and the human is comfortable with each other. We’ve had adopters say they simply locked eyes with a kitten and just knew - the bond was unmistakable. Once you’re smitten with a kitten, submit an Adoption Application and we’ll start working to pair you and your new best friend together in no time.
